Flaps Down on Takeoff
A common point of discussion on Grumman-Gang and among AYAers is whether the takeoff performance of Grumman aircraft is improved by the use of partial flaps on take-off.
AYA Safety Directory Ron Levy undertook a controlled experiment and concluded that the benefit is small, if any. He recommends following the book procedures, which require flaps up for takeoff.
