The GA7 was manufactured from 1978 to 1979. Initially by Grumman American Aviation Corp for approximately 7 months until the company was purchased by Allen Paulson of American Jet Industries. Then it was built under the Gulfstream American name through 1979 when production ceased. It was marketed as the Cougar.
The type certificate is currently owned by Socata Groupe Aerospatiale.
