Gil, This is the stuff *I* use: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/neoprenepyroglass.php Its glass reinforced neoprene rubber. Very thin compared to other "baffle seal" material that all tends to be 3/32" to 1/8" thick, and much of it has no reinforcement (so it tears easily).

Bob... I could only find this stuff on the AC Spruce web site... http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/siliconebaffle.php It's silicone, and not reinforced. Which material is the one you referenced below?

Gil, Same old baffle strip material. Don't recommend this.

UPDATE - Is it this 3/32 thich stuff from Chief Aircraft www.chiefaircraft.com/Aircraft/Weatherstrip/Images/JM_T8071.jpg also comes in sheets? gil A

For the metal baffles Garner Rice has told us that the Master Drawings say 5052 Aluminum. The original baffle seals were an asbestos impregnated rubber (which is no longer available due to concerns about Asbestosis. I use a thin (0.070" fiberglass reinforced rubber sheet. It can be purchased by the yard, so it can be cut to the larger than 3" widths needed on the back baffles. Aircraft Spruce sells it, as do others. ==Bob

Bob... what is the preferred material for the baffles? I used the orange silicone at 3/32 thick with no internal reinforcement. A few mechanics have said this isn't the best material, and prefer the original black stuff. Do you have any recommendations? gil A
