The Rigging Check and Adjustment page is intended to get owners thinking about checking their plane and then correcting the problems found. The goal is to explain the process and to show that its not difficult to correct the common rigging errors.

Turnbuckle clips

It seems that Aircraft Spruce does not sell the longer size of turnbuckle clips. I changed the link to Wicks Aircraft - they also seem to have abetter picture. Gil A.

Spruce does sell them, but the catalog isn't real clear about it. I like that link better for the picture of the completed turnbuckle, the safety wire and the breakdown of the turnbuckle parts.

Bob ... should the elevator angle offset (one counterweight being higher that the other) be fixed first? I'm going to do this to my Tiger next annual... I'll write it up then... gil A

Gil, you'd have to pick one side or the other and use that one to get the rigging set. The other side will then cause a rolling couple because of the split elevator. I've found this to be good for more than a couple knots when corrected. The wing trim tabs and sometimes a flap offset are used to "fix" the rolling caused by the tail. That is drag x2!

I intend to get to the repair methods for split elevators and ailerons with displaced counterweights, etc. --Bob
